Employment Opportunity: Managing Director of Available Light, Inc. Location: Salem MA Term: Permanent / Full Time Commence: On or about 4 December 2017
Available Light is seeking a dynamic, experienced Managing Director to lead and oversee a 25-year-young Lighting Design Firm whose focus is Museum Exhibition, High Performance Architecture and Trade Show Exhibits. We are 17 Employees + freelancers with a home office in Salem MA and 3 branch offices (Norwell MA, NYC & Raleigh NC.) The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficiency of our business dealings, overseeing day-to-day operations, and collaborating on strategic goals for the future. You will be an excellent lead-by-example manager willing to provide guidance and support to our team that enhances individual performance in a manner which embraces the company’s vision, culture, and moral compass. You will report to both the President and CFO.
Managing Director Responsibilities •Design and implement strategies to promote the attainment of goals, extracting trends from data, and developing the most efficient plans for business operations. Gather, analyze and interpret external and internal data and write reports. •Ensure that the company has adequate and suitable resources, people, and equipment to successfully undertake its commitments. •Direct responsibility for financial accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. Produce financial statements for the CFO, President, and tax consultants. •Oversee project management accounting, generation of project fee budgets, monthly monitoring/meeting of financial project performance against budgets with Project Managers, generate project billing, and ensuring that projects are on track to meet their intended goals. •Oversee management and development of project proposals and contracts (including preparation, participation, review, and administration.) •Maintain relationships with partners, vendors, and suppliers. •Occasionally represent the company at events, conferences, etc. •Ensure adherence to tax and legal rules and guidelines. Monitor the company's operations for both multiple states and federal compliance. •Prepare annual audit of and make recommendations for changes in general and professional liability insurance, workmen's compensation insurance, employee benefits, health & dental insurance, SEP IRA, HSA, etc. •Implements HR programs and policies as they apply to employee relations, compensation, benefits, safety, performance, and staffing levels. •Directly supervise Office Manager and other office support staff.
Minimum Requirements •Proven experience as business manager or relevant role. •Relevant accounting and management experience within the design industry or other billable-hours service-based revenue model. •Excellent organizational and leadership skills •Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities •Thorough understanding of diverse business processes and strategy development •Excellent knowledge of Deltek Vision and FileMaker Pro; familiarity with IT systems operations. •Good understanding of research methods and data analysis techniques. •Minimum BS/BA in Business Management or relevant field
