Job Description: EwingCole is seeking a motivated and creative senior lighting professional to join our award-winning design practice in the Philadelphia office in the lighting designer II position. Join our growing team with opportunity to advance within a nationally recognized integrated design firm. We are seeking a talented designer with 7+ years’ experience in commercial lighting design in at least one of our current market segments.
Potential lighting design candidates shall have experience in the following:
Experience working in commercial lighting design in at least one of the following markets: Academic, Corporate, Cultural, Government, Healthcare, Science and Technology, Sports and Entertainment. A self-starter capable of leading the lighting design on medium to large scale projects, and leading 1-2 person support staff on a project. Organized and motivated individual with professional experience working on multiple design projects at one time with overlapping schedules and phases of design. Extensive understanding of lighting design criteria for typical and highly specialized spaces/building types. Skilled in completing lighting design calculations using simulation software and supporting less experienced staff. Mentoring of less experienced staff on project related tasks and lighting design concepts. Extensive knowledge/experience in designing lighting control systems including documentation of one line diagrams, details, specification, sequence of operations and integration with other building systems. Experience working in all phases of the design process from early planning through construction administration. Reviewing products and evaluating components, design quality of materials, issues of maintenance, product quality and providing recommendations for projects. Reviewing comments/questions of less experienced lighting staff on product selections and characteristics. Designing within project budget and establishing VE options with an understanding of cost impact for projects. Coordinating with cost estimators and reviewing detailed cost estimates completed during design and bids during construction. Overseeing lighting design coordination with architects and other disciplines for RCP coordination and design intent. Leading lighting presentations with clients and project stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. Experience editing all lighting and lighting control specifications. Completing QA review of other projects/lighting design work within the office. Performing in-house and on-site construction administration tasks. Reviewing projects and completing documentation utilizing Revit and Autocad, and creating mark-ups for drafting by others.
Job Requirements: 4-year degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Interior Design, or Electrical Engineering 7+ years’ relevant experience Lighting Certified (LC) AGI32 or similar lighting simulation software Revit Autocad Microsoft Office Basic computer analysis skills
